I am a half sibling to a person shown to be an Illegal Adoption baby back in 1946 Dublin. I believe my family paid at least £100 Irish pounds back then. But there is nothing to show that the 'Adoptive Parents' paid anything to the Society dealing with the adoption. Can anyone give me any ideas if it was just the girl/lady who was pregnant that paid for that privilege ( not sure privilege is the correct term to use really) or was it both sides. My OH is wondering if the 'Adoptive Parents' gave a donation to the Charity so that it was seen as being very grateful for all the help they were given to have a child and not just some money making scheme. The stories coming out from this dreadful situation are heartbreaking, but nobody seems to know all the facts and sad to say probably never will as some of these homes covered their tracks very well.
I can only hope that some of these people affected by this terrible time in the life of their babies get some comfort in the pages here. Also I hope they get the truth that has been hiding for so long.
Thank you in advance, and I hope someone can help me with this question.
